I workout at home and see no need for the gym, here are my favorite things that will cost you a bit more than $100 and will last forever.
Reebok Total Body Toning Kit
$29.99, Target
This is a great one, includes an exercise ball, 2 soft weights, Pilates ring, 3 resistance bands (Levels 1, 2, and 3) and an exercise DVD. This is the base of all my workouts, with the ball, you can enhance almost any exercise and I added up how much it would have costed to buy the things individually and it was double this!
Gaiam Yoga Mat
$19.99, Target
I personally like this brand as they are durable, cute, and include a carrying case, but choose whatever brand you like.
Gaiam Yoga Block
$11.29, Target
Again, I like this brand, but choose any one you like.
Gaiam Quick Start Pilates for Weight Loss
$19.99, Target
I love this DVD, it’s a challenging core workout that will probably have your abs hurting in the first few days. =)
Gaiam Resistance Cord
$14.99, Target
A resistance cord is great for many exercises and a great addition to your little home gym. It also includes a DVD that I would have purchased separately I like it so much, not one of those crappy free DVDs.
Reebok Weights
3 pound weights are $4.99 each, Target
I like these because they have a strap thing that keeps your hand in place, I have the 2 pound and three pound ones and use them for assorted activities often.
The Step
$49.99, Sport Chalet
The Step is the most expensive piece of exercise equipment, but I love it, it gives a good cardio workout on those days that the heat just won’t permit me to jog and it comes with a DVD to help you get started. If you don’t mind running in the cold or the heat, then you don’t need this, I’m just a lightweight. =)
My favorite thing about working out at home is I can be sweaty, wearing ugly old sweats and no one is there to see me and I can blast my music (I hate headphones) and no one complains. Also, I don’t have to take the time drag myself over to the gym, so, I don’t skip my workouts as much when all it requires is for me to do is pull my mat out of the closet.
Happy Home Exercising!
